Blotted Science - The Machinations Of Dementia

\r\nThe guitarist Ron Jarzombek is known from Watchtower and Spastic Ink. Blotted Science is his new project and together with him he has two great musicians that forms the band and gives their personal image. These are the bassist player of Cannibal Corpse, Alex Webster and the drummer Charlie Zeleny of Jordan Rudess and Behold... The Arctopus. The music of the band is not at all easy in listening, but it is suitable to break the nerves of those who do not like technical/instrumental tracks. The Machinations Of Dementia is a complicated album, that we could not categorize it easily in a specific genre. We give it the characterization of Progressive / Instrumental Metal, as it is closer to this. What we have here is 16 tracks suitable to disappoint anyone who tries to learn playing a guitar! Technique is on the zenith, while the inspiration is more than obvious. Not even a track in the album contains vocals, something that personally didn’t like, but we can not have everything that we wish for. The band has focused on technical parts, but apart from this there are influences from Thrash and Speed Metal. So, when all these are combined together, the result couldn’t be an easy one. Ron’s guitarist abilities in the album are awesome, while Webster show us individual lesson of bass playing. Something that is obvious in the whole album are the continuously changes of rhythm and speed in general, as we pass from mid tempo parts to faster ones and then they come some solos to finish us. The Machinations Of Dementia is a technical album which can be loved but also tired us. It is true that this kind of bands don’t interest me, as there is no emotions but only technical solos and in general technical playing. Apart from my personal opinion, no one can disputes the beauty of this album. If you like technical bands, you have just found your new love. \r\n
