Crest Of Darkness - Give us the Power to do your Evil

\r\nCrest Of Darkness is a Norwegian extreme metal band, formed by the former Conception bassist Ingar Amlien. Their sound is a mix of blasting black metal, stomping percussive death metal and heavily constructed thrash metal along with some pure metal influences. The compositions are mostly up tempo under a rigid wall of guitars, fat double-bass drums and blast beats but there are also moments when the sound is pretty much a groovier pummeling frontage with the guitars having a nice razor sound or creating soundscapes full of heaviness. At times the sound gives you as well the feeling of a slight industrial undertone flowing deep into the thick veins of their dark structure music. The vocals are harsh mid to high pitched screams holding mostly under their weight the black metal extreme aggressiveness. What I liked about this album was the devastating barrage of savagery, also the thrash-inspired streams and most of all their insane blasting at some points. But what I found really discouraging for my rating to be a little higher was the fact that even while this mix of extreme metal is quite appealing yet there is a profound lack of an obligatory connection between them that would be necessary to bind them under a massive construction of sound. The compositions as a total audible output possess a transparent incoherence and their short duration make things only less absorbing. Like a gun firing at will and never really knowing what the target is. The conclusion is that I enjoyed pretty much the majority of this album only for its charging foundation but never really got stuck on its component quality or state of cohering.\r\n
