Reviews

\r\nThis is the worst thing that can happen to me when writing a review for a fresh starter. I hate being mean, especially when the band is new and is trying to establish a first step to the scene with a demo. I will, on the other hand, have to be honest and speak my mind without hiding behind soothing words.

\r\n Norwegians Byfrost are considered a new act since they started off two and a half years ago, but the genre they serve is dusty old craft. Does anyone remember Diabolical Desecration by Bewitched? Call it retro-and it probably is- call it what you will but the essense remains in music.

\r\nSPIDER KICKERS ARE BACK \r\n

\r\n

\r\n-Spider Kickers- is a band from Greece and specific from the town of Ioannina. This band plays Thrash/Death metal since the late 80’s and till now they have released a single, a Demo, two self-released full lengths and one more full length via Sleaszy Rider Records. They are now releasing their fourth official work through the same label. \r\n

\r\nANOTHER RE-RELEASE FROM -NECROPHOBIC-\r\n

\r\n

\r\n-Darkside- is the name of the second full length album from these veterans that was released back in 1997 via Black Mark Production. A great album full of nice Death/Black songs with nice atmosphere and great melodic leads. The band returned with faster songs, very nice production and great atmospheric instrumental tracks. The cover artwork was amazing and it was a job done by Kristian Wahlin.\r\n

\r\n Why does it take so long for me to discover such hidden diamonds god damn it! My eye falls on a promo with a way too minimal and beautiful cover that draws me sooo into it. Black and white with an elegant, simple symbol on it. I say let’s see...has anyone seen my liver?!?!

\r\nΤhe fact these dudes hailf from the Netherlands and that the band’s name begins with the word Severe could be promising but they share nothing in common with death metal gods Severe Torture apart from being named Severe Outburst. Even their music’s quality is on the other side of the fence.

\r\nI knew from the first place that this would be boring...
\r\nUnfortunately i was right.
\r\nWell maybe that review’s intro seems dissapointing but not everything is bad here.
\r\nLet’s see what Loathe from Malta has to offer.
\r\n
\r\nThey are an eleven years old band since 1999 and Despondent by Design  is their first album.
\r\nThis is a bit odd as they exist for many years but they have released 3 e.p in the past time.
\r\nThese gentlemen from Malta play a mix of deathcore, death metal, crossover thing. I cannot say

\r\nRE-MASTERING DIAMONDS \r\n

January 10, 2011

Crawling out of hell is the first part of a concept, which is to be completed in three albums. Each album goes with a book all being created by guitarist John Cruppe. The purpose of each book is to reveal more information about the story, part of which can be found in the booklet of this specific release. Everything revolves around the concept, from  the music to the amazing artwork included to the 32-paged(!!!!) booklet. Even the band present itself as the villains of this story by using extreme costumes and make-up.

\r\nΙ’m sure there quite a few that remember the days when every band coming from Sweden or not wanted to play the "swedish way". Back then, the so called melodic death metal was at its peak and bands of this sound were popping out from everywhere in Europe like weed. Even bands like Septic Flesh had their moments when they recorded Revolution DNA at Fredman Studios. Not a bad album at all but they ultimetly followed a different path.
