Lizzy Borden - Love You To Pieces

Lizzy Borden - Love You To Pieces

\r\n
\r\nIn the middle of the pro-past decade, the music events, were moving with breakneck speeds. Sound was becoming faster, heavier, while influences from other music genres (most of them unknown for hard), had already changed and driven to other roads and musical forms.
\r\nEspecially in America or better for the colossal bands to succeed in the American market, they were forced to change their sound, moving to more commercial forms. Examples of JUDAS PRIEST, SAXON, IRON MAIDEN sustain this truth, while other bands were already thought to be old fashioned.
\r\nOn the other hand, there was a bulk of underground bands, which wanted to show to everybody their hardcore and punk influences, enriched by NWOBHM and MOTORHEAD elements and few of pure hard n’ heavy sound.
\r\n
\r\nSomewhere inside this, existed a small but tough core of bands, that remained faithful towards more unique musical forms, artists who had grown up with bands from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, with European sound, the way that it was developed during 70’s and beginning of 80’s. \r\n

\r\n

\r\nCharacterized example of this, was LIZZY BORDEN. \r\n

\r\n

\r\nDeeply influenced from IRON MAIDEN (like all power scene of the US), remained to the traditional sound of DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN, JUDAS PRIEST), they offered us the continuity of the heavy metal form. They also had influences from KISS and ALICE COOPER, but this was more for their theatrical image and especially for the vocals. \r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe album is inspired of melodies, many guitar riffs and double-solos. Pure emotions, with the willing to include everything, while in all the album the youth enthusiasm is obvious, cause those guys really enjoyed that they were part of the continuity of their role models. That was the way they think of it, and the way it was.
\r\nFrom the sweet aggressive “COUNCIL FOR THE CALDRON" and the psychotic rhythmic “PSYCHOPATH” , we pass through beautiful songs such as "RED RUM", "AMERICAN ΜΕΤΑL", go to more commercialized ones “SAVE ME" and reached songs-where their IRON MAIDEN influences are more than ever evident- "FLESHEATER", "WARFARE", "GODIVA". For the epilogue "ROD OF IRON" (masterpiece!!!), in an album where every one of us in a continuous adrenaline floating…
\r\nPure emotions I said before…Ok, expressive I meant. Due to the heart-taking ballad (ok not so much a ballad), which is the homonymous hymn (Love You To Pieces), I do not believe that Lizzy Borden, meant with this song the real way that he loves women, when they didn’t satisfied his….pure emotions!!!\r\n
