CATTLE DECAPITATION - Travis Ryan

\r\nMetalzone.gr: First of all, I’d like to welcome you in Metalzone.gr. Let’s begin from your latest release, forth in the row, The Harvest Floor. Is it everything you wanted it to be? What feedback have you received so far?
\r\nTravis:
Its actually our 6th release! 4th for Metal Blade... Its ALMOST everything I personally wanted it to be. I mean, I’m extremely pessimistic if you haven’t noticed already from the lyrics, and thus I’m never completely satisfied. Its my downfall. But, this record has much less things that I can find that I would change. I am VERY happy with the reviews and reception so far! Its been insane.
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone.gr: What are the themes you are expressing through your new album?
\r\nTravis:
It is the end result of the culmination of all our ideas over the past few records. The end of humanity via our own methods and mistakes.
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone.gr: Music wise, are there any differences comparing to your previous releases?
\r\nTravis:
YES, definitely! We stepped up the musicianship big time as we got a new drummer who was as hungry to do this as much as we were. That really makes a difference. Mike, our last drummer, just got kind of tired of playing this kind of music I think. He’s a great guy and it was a mutual split. We felt it coming... So we stalked Dave for a while and when the time was right, he joined the band. Musically we really went for it and will only get more intense from here on out.
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone.gr: Has your new drummer David Mc Graw added in the effect of the album"
\r\nTravis:
He’s a very precise drummer. Very creative as well. He even wrote a few riffs for the album and had more of a say in how the songs were written. We’ve never had a drummer that even wanted to do that before! haha...
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone.gr: What about the production of Billy Anderson?
\r\nTravis:
He’s great! We used his huge sound for the rest of the album apart from the drums. Dave was a fan of Zach Ohren’s drum recording so we used his services for the drums. We worked with Billy on the Karma.Bloody.Karma album so we were familiar with how he worked. He promised us a much bigger and better recording with THF as he has amassed a wealth of knowledge of the recording software since we did KBK. It worked nicely!
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone.gr: Tell me about your attitude towards animal cruelty and your choice of being Vvegetarian. Do you feel you can pass on the message through your music?
\r\nTravis:
I know for a fact we can pass it on. We’ve turned many, many people over to the green side with our lyrics. I have countless accounts from people saying that they went veg because of our lyrics, imagery and ideas alone! My attitude is this: Mind your own business. Do what you can to stay out of the way of others’ lives and that include animals. If you can’t, fuck you, get in line - time to die.
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone.gr: Do you feel it can be the answer to the problems our planet is facing at the moment?
\r\nTravis:
Probably not, but its a start. I think we might be too far gone to really change anything. But then again I’m incredibly pessimistic so it might be in everyone’s best interest to not listen to me.
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone.gr: Being from the US do you feel that the new president – who is promoting a more environmentally aware profile - will take measures to help in preserving the planet?
\r\nTravis
: I’m really not sure. I voted for him mainly because I couldn’t get myself to vote republican and McCain is an old fuck.
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone.gr: Are you touring in support of the album? Are you planning on appearing in any of the upcoming summer festivals?
\r\nTravis:
Yes! We will be making our way out there shortly, but probably not until after the festival season as we have not been asked to play any! They’re too afraid of our brutality and intensity and don’t want to be converted to being Cattle fans I think. Just kidding. Who knows, we’ll see.
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone.gr: Where do you see yourselves in 5 years time?
\r\nTravis:
I have no idea. Probably doing the same shit. Playing in the band, working out of my house. Maybe married? No kids though.
\r\n
\r\nMetalzone.gr: Thank you for your time and I wish you all the best in your future plans.
\r\nTravis:
Thanks alot!!!\r\n
