THE 69 EYES - Back in Blood

\r\nThe Helsinki Vampires are back and they are sleazier than ever!! Forget about gothic vampires, cobwebbed crypts and cursed love affairs. These vampires are completely different, they love parties and undead chicks while their natural habitat seems to be the dark alleys of Hollywood and the steaming strip clubs and what’s more important …they’ll rock the hell outta you!
\r\nOf course I was expecting “Back in Blood” to be a good album, couldn’t have been otherwise according to their success so far, what I wasn’t expecting was that it would be THAT good! “Back in Blood” kicks ass! Is not only equal to the previous masterpieces (“Devils”-2004, “Angels”-2007) in fact is way better!
\r\nThere ain’t a mediocre song in this one. From the first tune to the last, this album keeps you pinned down. What “The 69 Eyes” are presenting here is a parade of all these elements that helped then to make a name for themselves. The Vampire concept lurks once more among the compositions (along with the awesome-please bite me- female vamps on the videos!!) the baritone vocals of Jirky 69 are prevailing while their Rock’n’Roll influences are more obvious than never before. Everything is presented though, through a sleazier approach something that makes “Back in Blood” even better.
\r\nThe sound is simply excellent, and the credits for that should go to Matt Hyde who is responsible for the production, a man who has worked for “Slayer” and “Monster Magnet” among others, since the band decided to give a break to the 6th Vampire and ex-producer Johnny Lee Michaels. This has as a result for the album to be sounding more “solid” and powerful, boosting perfection to a brand new level.
\r\nSeems that “The 69 eyes” stood up to their own challenge and they managed very well, so it won’t be a blasphemy to conclude that “Back in Blood” is their own “Back in Black”! Besides as they themselves boldly state on the title track “blood is the new black”
