Angels And Enemies - Gttkmplx

\r\n Yes, I know that this whole labeling thing has gone a bit too far which is why I’m trying to avoid it everyway possible. I have to give some kind of musical description though, for the band being reviewed(bad choice of words?). German act Angels And Enemies go behind the so called metalcore label. Rotten candy? Truth be told, this genre has somewhat been overrun.

\r\n If you’re into stuff like Unearth and Himsa, you have a clear view of what’s in here, with only difference being a more detailed guitar work, thus raising the bar a few inches higher. Lead guitar parts have something to say and come in quantities, riff-wise you can find interesting stuff too. They try to give a slice of variety, to deliver something more than the usual. The all necessary At The Gates stigma is present of course but there comes a moment when something begins to annoy you. That’s no other than the language: everything is in german! The sing along parts just went down the drain. Seriously now, I’m extremely impressed by the band’s decision to have strictly german lyrics. I don’t know if it’s due to variety reasons or anything alike but the result automatically feels like it’s rejecting you as it is directed to a specific target group. I may just be talking bull right now but my ears did not feel too good about it. Just my opinion.

\r\n In terms of composing, Angels And Enemies, have what it takes. But they don’t manage to escape the mass after the fourth hearing. At least not as much as they’d like to. Furthermore, the sound is good but utterly common. You feel dejavus over and over again and you find yourself wondering if you had better off buy the new Unearth album..Not the worst, not the best band out there allthesame. If you’re the "gotta have it all" kind of fan "Gttkmplx"(what a title!) is worth its money. It has everything we know metalcore for, perhaps even more.\r\n
