Atheist - Jupiter

Atheist - Jupiter

Well…Atheist… The legendary outfit for the whole metal scene but also for me personally, I still remember that evening when a friend of mine brought me some death metal albums just to “introduce” me to the death metal scene, amongst those death metal albums (Messiah, Death, Malevolent Creation, Cynic, Pestilence) was also the hyper epic “Unquestionable Presence” from Atheist. The band immediately became one of my favourites and for the next months I’ve been searching for their releases (to buy them, there were no mp3 around at that time)
\r\nFifteen years have passed since that evening and I have the great pleasure and honour to review Atheists new Album… 17 years after their last cornerstone of technical death metal “elements”, Atheist are back again with their newest release “Jupiter
\r\nAt first, I was anxious about what I am about to listen, to be honest Cynic’s comeback is responsible for that feeling, but by the first notes of “Second To sun” I was sure that Kelly Shaffer, Robert Flynn and co. are not about to change anything in Atheist’s musical legacy.
\r\nTechnical Death Metal in all it’s glory, great musicianship, exquisite compositions and technical playing habits, that do no affect the aggression  of the band , just like the way we used to remember Atheist. Robert Flynn is once again outstanding while Mr Shaffer seems like he is still back in the late 80’s when we first met him, spiting his vocal lines and changing constantly riffs.
\r\n“Jupiter” features eight tracks straight from the heart of Old good Atheist, tracks that could easily be on their previous outstanding releases…the Technical Death Metal Gods are back with the best album for 2010!!!
