BAD SISTER - Because rust never sleeps

\r\nSome bands exist just for the sake of existence. There is no reason to be active, but they are, releasing albums just because they “must” ruining their very own image that they probably have created. On the other hand there are some bands not familiar with the word “compromise”. Some bands that prefer to be “inactive” releasing only worth listening albums. The Germans Bad Sister are a fine example of the second case. “Because rust never sleeps” is their third release after 18 years of silence. Being around since 1989 their first 2 albums (“Heartbreaker” – 1989 and “Out of the business” – 1991) are considered classics from the fans of Hard Rock/AOR.
\r\nOn this album the band does what knows best. They deliver 13 compositions of pure inspired hard rock. There are songs here that if they were released 20 years ago they would have become classics. I am referring to this because there is a strong 80’s feeling surrounding the songs but this doesn’t make them sound less interesting in any case. Not at all.
\r\nThere are some tracks that can be characterised as “instant classics” (“Surrender” and “Rocky Road”) some emotional ballads (“Unless you talk to me” and “Carry on”) while they dare to experiment with a more modern sound (“Zone zero”).
\r\nSuzie Lohmar’s vocals seem to retain the warmth as well as the nerve the compositions need to stand out while the melodic solos, the clever guitar riffs along with the stunning keyboards are escorting her in the best way.
\r\n“Because rust…” is surely not something new, that’s not its purpose anyway, but it will definitely attract the fans of the genre. It is indeed a worth exploring album.
