Blut aus Nord - 777 - Sect(s)

I’ll say it once more. Fantasy will bring the unique music. Not some v.i.p stuff or marketing or extreme technical capabilities. Here we have the France’s finest and classic Blut Aus Nord with their 8th release, "777 Sect(s)".
\r\nFor those they don’t know about them, they are pretty old in the scene (1993 is the year of their formation under the name "Vlad") and their style is a bit difficult to describe. Their music balances between your worst nightmare and a feeling of death haunting you during the songs.
\r\n
\r\nMy personal favorite Blut’s album is 2003’s "The Work Which Transforms God". I am happy to realise that "777 sect(s)" sounds like the physical continuation of "The work...". Generally, this band doesn’t have a "bad" album. They are top class with unique and alternative music and sound, and totaly different offers in the black metal scene. However you will not listen to black metal exclusively or do not expect to listen to some pagan blinkers as we know them untill now. As i said prepare to face a different music with different music styles (i heard almost every metal style in there hidden and difficult to realise) mixed up, and unique sound on the instruments specially on guitars, but all mixed in the same nightmarish boiler. The only thing i’m sure is that these guys unleash some twisted psychology through music in a way that will be engraved in your mind for ever. About the production. As it happens with all these albums, for the trained ears will be another big good surprise but for the others it is a love it or hate it situation. The most important thing though is that people who like this already famous style will find it awesome.
\r\n
\r\nI think that France has nowdays a strong presence in the intellectual, alternative black metal scene with bands like Blut Aus Nord or Deathspell Omega, leading with some others the top quality black metal scene. For all those burning their brain with some next generation black metal nightmares about the meaning of life, this new album is an early top5 entry for 2011. Go and get it before the destruction of the earth...
