Cain's Offering - Gather the Faithful

Cain's Offering - Gather the Faithful

\r\nWhat could someone expect from a collaboration between Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius, Kotipelto) and the guitarist Jani Liimatainen (ex-Sonata Arctica, ex-Altaria)? Something related to their musical background of course. Mikko Harkin (Solution.45, Mehida, ex-Sonata Arctica, ex-Wingdom, ex-Kenziner) is on the keyboards, Jukka Koskinen (Norther, Wintersun) is on the bass and Jani "Hurtsi" Hurula (Paul Di’Anno) is on the drums.
\r\nWhat does it sound like? If Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica were jamming together, that would be the result I guess. It’s very melodic with very beautiful ideas and all we can do is hoping it won’t be only a project but that it will lead to a permanent collaboration, as the whole work is really great. The title track is one my favorites, even though I can’t hear Kotipelto ’s magnificent singing for a few minutes. On the other hand it’s such a charming composition that you won’t even notice. I was a bit confused at the end of the album as the main melody of the last song, “ Elegantly broken”, is exactly the same as the one on the very popular song of that great singer called Taylor Dayne, “Tell it to my heart” . A song that was a big hit in the past and it had broken so many hearts (come on, you do remember!) \r\n
