Count Raven - Mammons War

Unfortunately, I am not able to hide this huge love of mine for this Swedish Doom metal outfit, that after 13 years is back on action with a new album and trust me, they do sound like the time never left its marks on them, despite the fact that the only remaining member of the Count is Dan Fodelius , the unquestionable leader of the band, that joined forces with Fredrik Jansson (Bass) of the  retro doomesters, Witchcraft and Jens Bock of  Doomsday Gouvernment on drums to release this opus.
\r\nWhen I first got this promo CD I was 100% sure about what I am about to listen to, Doom Metal anthems, that lyrically will interfere with the unhappiness of the band for all the social injustice, something that is also visible from the “Mommons War” title (“Mommon” in Hebrew means “money” but in the holy bible this word has been used to describe greed, etc)
\r\nWhen it’s all about music that has been composed and performed with true emotion, things seems so simple, the outcome would never fail. Dan’s (ozzy – alike) vocals and riffing has been sounding to my ears and my heart since years now, like all the other fans of the band that they have probably start their festivities putting on these old huge crosses (Marble crosses, as my friend Father Alex says) that easily reach the region of their hearts, because there’s no arguing that Doom Metal is a special way and philosophy of life, minimalist, with no greed and above all true that comes right from the depths of our souls.
