Before The Dawn - Deathstar Rising

Before The Dawn - Deathstar Rising

\r\nLeading a steady route through the years, mainly in the background, Before The Dawn hit us back with a new release to move a step further on the path of gothic/death metal. Those of you who have seen the band on stage probably were not stuck to the wall..truth is the band dwells in the shadows of the mighty Amorphis and other monsters of the genre but what they offer is something well served.

\r\n I’m the type of listener that prefers innovative work...usually. But, "Deathstar Rising" earned my full attention with its atmosphere and honesty. Simple themed, guitars that take your mind away and the well known combination of melodic and harsh vocals by the band leader Tuomas Saukkonen are present. Do not expect any blasting fury as far as the tempo is concerned, the usual up tempo/slow stuff, nothing more, nothing else. This is an atmospheric boat after all. The tracks should work really well on a live show, they’re memorable and catchy as hell. The feeling coming out from the speakers is well received too, should this be worrying me?

\r\n Ok, this ain’t any musical revelation, not the "next big thing" of the genre. Yet, those who want "sunset mood" in their music and sad/melancholic expression will love those melodic leads of the finish lads as well as their hook like choruses. There’s nothing more to analyze, you either like it or not. I had an amazing time listening to "Deathstar Rising" and the disc will definitely enter my disc player again and again. So, you don’t have to wait for Katatonia’s next album to feel down, try this one!\r\n
