Earth Of Distrust - Proselytize

\r\nCategorizing, labels, mandatory characterization. Greeks Earth of Distrust easily piss on these deeds and do as they please. Call it punk, sludge, metal, post something or a cheeseburger. What matters is that they are good at whatever it is they do and do it in their own personal style.

\r\n The band’s first demo came out about 4 years ago(this review should have been up some time ago..) and whoever missed it cannot tell the band’s development. But it actually matters not. The lads know how to walk on water, bastardizing all their influences. With Spoonman’s voice in a chameleon role they balance between paranoia and a surrealistic, fog-like greyscaled soundscape. The album brings out a specific atmosphere, an instability that feels so familiar with all that psychedelic vibe that draws the listener deeper and deeper into its slumber. I will not talk about riffs and other musical terms. These songs are breathing entities with faces and tentacles...

\r\n The production is murky enough to start nagging about it but in the end it’s probably a part of their being. Perhaps it shortens the saturation of the coloured cover setting a new destination towards the fury of its morbid content. I know that it is most likely that this text won’t help you understand what "Proselytize" is about but this is exactly what the repeated listening sessions make me feel. An awkward renewal of bizzare nature through catharctic violence. Just let yourself go over the music and it’ll take over from there on. The guys have one of the best and most varied throats the "genre" has to offer. Check!\r\n
