Ingrimm - Böses Blut

Ingrimm - Böses Blut

\r\nStarting this review I need to say that it’s becoming almost annoying, for me at least, watching various record labels “discovering” new genres in metal, so as to convince us that certain bands they promote are “something new” or “original” and that “they play what has never been played before” like it the case of Ingrimm, who are said to play…medieval metal (Suppose there might also be renaissance or… baroque metal?).
\r\nBeyond of course all that talk for (record) labels and (music) labels, we have Ingrimm who, on their third album, present us an at least decent work that plays in the field of folk metal (with… medieval elements of course…) with mostly up-tempo songs that are a great fit for dancing instead of headbanging, even though this doesn’t mean that the album has not also its harder moments. The main characteristic of this album is the great work that has been done concerning the melodies, which are mainly expressed through traditional instruments like bagpipes or hurdy gurdy, while the metal instruments build a strong background for the songs. What came a little strange to me were the vocals , that besides being only in german could also be more melodic, even though  I can’t deny that singer Fenris sings his lyrics with overwhelming passion, while the production is good enough for this kind of music, neither too clean nor too “dirty”.
\r\nSo, “Böses Blut” is barely something original and surely doesn’t change things in the planet of metal music, however it is a more than decent folk metal album that, without really revealing itself as something special, can stand above the average of  similar releases of that genre, so all friends of folk metal should give a chance to Ingrimm and “Böses Blut”.
