Megadeth - Endgame

Megadeth - Endgame

To be honest I never watched closely Megadeth’s career after “Criptic Writings”. I stopped listening to them somewhere around 1997 when they released their last, in my opinion, awesome work. From that year on, excluding “The system has failed” I consider their every release a mediocre one and I sadly admit this because until ’97 the words Megadeth and mediocrity were completely irrelevant. In their previews release “United abominations” Megadeth proved that they can still compose some awesome songs, so their fans expectations of the new album were growing bigger and bigger. I consider Chris Broderick’s (ex- Nevermore and Jag panzer) choice as a lead guitarist at least wise, not to say ideal. Dave never gave this position to just anybody anyway. “Endgame” is an album that at least restores a big deal of Megadeth’s former glory. What impressed me most by listening to it was, besides the razorblade riffing, the inspired melodies and the unique dual “headcrushing” soloing. I really haven’t heard that kind of guitar work from the famous’ “Rust in peace” days.
\r\nAll these things that made Megadeth a leading name in Thrash metal and not only, are present here as well. Venomous lyrics about the world’s ongoing demise, fiery riffing, the sometimes groovy and other times thundering rhythm section and most of all Dave’s poison dripping and sarcastic singing. All the compositions here are exceptional with “The Hardest Part Of Letting Go... Sealed With A Kiss” being the best track in the album where Mustaine’s distinctive singing making it really stand out. “Endgame” has no fillers. These are a thing of the past. I don’t know whether inspiration returned to the “Chief” to set his mind on fire once more or was it Chris Broderick’s participation in this it doesn’t really matter. All that matters is that “Endgame” is one of Megadeth’s best releases for nearly 10 years now, while Andy Sneap’s exelent production completes once more an outstanding album.
\r\nWelcome back Dave.
