OZZY - Scream

OZZY - Scream

\r\nI suppose that there’s no need for any special introduction about Ozzy,"The Prince Of Darkness", "The Madman" etc.
\r\nAfter two "less interesting" albums, it seems that he has made up his mind to return back to the successful "Ozzmosis era". If you take a listen to "Scream" without having listened to the previous ones, you will probably think that it’s the "correct" follow-up of Ozzmosis. Modern sound and good riffing, combined with a very good performance by the "I-deny-to-get-old" Ozzman, results in a great balance between his glorious past and a more fresh and up-to-date approach, which of course is the main reason why the album is so interesting.
\r\nHighly responsible for this and many credits should be given to his new guitarist Gus G., in my opinion, who has done a great job on the guitars, while his solos fit the songs just perfect, at times aggressive and furious and at times sentimental. He seems to combine perfectly all of the great elements from each of the previous Ozzy ’s guitarists, while he introduces his own music style and I think this is why he fits in the group without any dispute!
\r\nThe whole release is very easy-listening by its first spin, while if you dig-in more, you can find some great "hidden" moments as well. For example, the song "I Want It More", which may not be the hit-song, but the guitar riffs are just perfect and the middle part is outstanding!
\r\n"Scream" includes anthems like "Let Me Hear You Scream" which is easily a hard rock "hit" with a chorus that will haunt us for ever in the future, "Diggin’ Me Down" starting slowly with acoustic guitars, continuing with a hellish riff ala-Sabbath, a great vocal line and a catchy chorus, the (mostly) mid tempo "Soul Sucker" so heavy and catchy at the same time, the full of hate "Crucify", the (almost) ballad "Time" and the devastating "I Want It More" which I have previously described! It’s not that the other tracks are of lower standards, but I can’t describe the entire release song -by-song!!
\r\nI will use just three words to sum things up :"Ozzy is back"!Yes it’s not a new "Blizzard of Ozz" or "No more Tears", but it’s a modern,  inspired cd, with great tracks, great performance, great production and overall sounding result (ok this is expected) and definitely a great piece of HEAVY METAL music! \r\n
