PESTILENCE - Doctrine

PESTILENCE - Doctrine

The Dutch legendary death metal outfit, Pestilence return with their second album after their many years long break! The successor of “Resurrection Macabre” is entitled “Doctrine” and according to the band on this album they are about to use all the great elements of their previous albums and try to make their best album ever!!!
\r\nWell, I really don’t know if the will make it, because all always time will tell if “Doctrine” will be characterised as the best Pestilence album by their fans, but for sure the obscure theatrical elements of “Testimony of the ancients” meet the progressive elements of “Spheres” (the most underrated Pestilence album for sure) and served with the aggression of their two first albums. The glorious return of Patrick Uterwijk on guitars and Jeroen Paul Thesseling on bass guitar, the things keep on getting better and better and the final outcome is the glorious classic Pestilence sound of the past. This sound really drives me mad, especially the “Spheres” alike passages, which thankfully exist in large amounts in the album.
\r\nAll these years I’ve been present in several conversations about Pestilence and I came to the conclusion that the fans of Pestilence, can be described in three different groups. Those who love their whole discography, those that love the Martin Van Drunen εποχή (Malleus Maleficarum / Consuming Impulse) and those who cherish the post - Martin Van Drunen era.Believe me that no matter in which group you categorise yourselves, even by the first time that you ll spin the album you are about to worship “Doctrine” The only thing I regret is that I graded their previous album with 95/100, because I ve been convinced that the band won’t have a better release after their spit up. Thankfully Patrick (s) made me change my mind on that.
