REX MUNDI - Perception in design

REX MUNDI - Perception in design

\r\nIt’s been a long time since the release of their EP “Balance Between Madness And Hope”, and now it’s time for new things. Since then, the band has performed many live shows- Nevermore and Cynic were the highlights I think- has a much better sound, is more mature both creatively and technically-wise, and is now ready to present its first full length album.
\r\nThey describe their music as “Aggressive Progressive” and I absolutely agree on that; the songs are so complicated and technically perfect on one hand, while on the other hand the band seems to be in a really aggressive mood, creating a mixture of ideas, variations, influences and prominence that puts the band immediately on high level, perhaps on a higher one than expected from a band’s debut album. Their music is heavy, perplexing, stressing and addicting, one moment it saddens you and the other it makes your adrenaline flow. They speed-up, become extreme, slow down and then become more aggressive than before, they are thrashing and riffing and darkening..
\r\n“Perception in design” brings me back to the Politics of Ecstasy (Nevermore) era, an album which was exceptional.. but it doesn’t ‘leave me there, it brings me back to right here and right now. They obviously can ‘t hide their influences (heck, we don’t want them to, anyways!), however they don’t disturb their personal music style. Rex Mundi don’t follow any rules, they don’t compromise and they don’t set any borderlines in their music.
\r\nIt takes time and lots of attention so to comprehend their music. Once you do that, your relationship with them will be fatal and its future will be predestined.
