SHATTERED HOPE - Absence

Shattered Hope - Absence

The long awaited debut album by this Athenian doom / death metal outfit , Shattered Hope, at last is happening. The band begun its discography action back in 2005 and has already released two demos, but this time is about their debut full length album.
\r\nThe Album is entitled “Absence” and I d like to state that this is a self financed release, a fact that always makes me to review an album under a different point of view. So what we got here is 63 minutes of down tempo, atmospheric doom death metal, that reminds us of the early Paradise Lost days (well not so early), My Dying Bride, Officium Triste and in specific parts the guitar sound, sounds like Septic Flesh’s “Esoptron” era. Really Slow riffing with many and good melodic lines and a haunting atmosphere with the help of keyboards, that despite the fact that they do exist, they don’t exaggerate. As for the vocals, I had the opportunity to catch the band on stage and really left me speechless; the vocalist here, Nikos is like throwing up all of his disgust on this microphone.
\r\n“Absence” for sure is not the “proper” album to start your day, since this is the second listening for me and after this one I have the feeling that this day will be so long for me…
\r\nBut I ll just push the play button once again to feed my doom metal needs, as for you if you don’t take a listen to this album, you are about to loose 63 unique minutes of essential doom metal music… In Total Fuckin Doom!!!!
