Symbolic - Scarvest

\r\nΜelodic death metal has kept a solid fan base although the years of its heyday(Gates of Ishtar, Dark Tranquillity) have been long dead and gone. Its influence in today’s metal scene has been filtered and evolved into something else with the term "core" attached to its end. Just by looking at the band’s promo photoshooting I made I quick guess that this is the case once again. I was wrong.

\r\n The lads play melodic death metal the way it should be! They honour the traditions of the genre with extreme talent! Throught 8 long tracks the germans show their teeth and make the listener beg for more. If you ask for the combination of brutality/melody you’ll party your heart out! Long railway riffing(for oldschool’s sake) and tons of melodic leads blend and fill each other thus giving a tremendous flow to the album. The vocals are superb too, ultra guttural where they’re supposed to be so and soul screaming in the known style. Death metal, no melodic choruses and pink flowers!

\r\n In terms of song composition the game is already won. These guys can keep you on your toes even in songs of seven or seven and a half minutes’ duration. There’s a great variety of emotions, mood, tempos and soundscapes. And if this can be found at their debut I can only imagine what’s coming next! I really tried to find flows in "Scarvest" but I failed again. Lovers of the genre go grab it asap!\r\n
