Theatre Of Tragedy - Addenda

Theatre Of Tragedy - Addenda

\r\n In a world of disillusion
\r\nLoitering away your time
\r\nThere’s no harm in reconstruction
\r\nPaint the world in Black ‘n White“

\r\nConsidering the above lyrics taken from the song “Empty” and the constantly changing music career of Theatre Of Tragedy, I would dare saying that they are more than self defining. We are all aware that this band was always balancing between “black & white” either using the dark gloomy atmosphere that was always their trademark or enriching their sound with modern electro melodies, especially in the last few years (2004 – 2010). I don’t know if the departure of their original front woman Liv Christine had a serious impact to their sound but what I do know is that after that the band has little resemblance with the Gothic Metal legends of the first albums. With this EP called “Addenda” Theatre Of Tragedy chooses to end the play and let the curtain fall for the last time since they decides to disband.
\r\nTo be more precise this EP is a gift from the band to all their devoted fans who supported them over the years ,so in here you’ll find some rarities, bonus tracks and b-sides as well as some alternate versions of some of their songs. The tracks that really got my attention were the gloomy “The Braking”, the haunting melody of “Frozen”, the stunning riffing of “Beauty in Deconstruction” and last but not least the symphonic experimentation of  “Forever Is The World”.
\r\nConcluding, I think that this release appeals mostly to Theatre Of Tragedy’s die-hard fans but if someone wants to be familiar with the band through this release, “Addenda” is a typical sample of their latest releases but not a trademark for the bands long career.
