VADER - Necropolis

\r\nSubconsciously I have connected the word “Necropolis” with negative emotions and generally repulsive thoughts (no, I am not referring to Manilla Road) so imagine my surprise when I saw that cursed word as an album title of one of my favorite death metal bands. Funny thing is that this specific album with a title like that is one of the best works I have listened to the last couple of years and I am not referring only to Vader but to the whole death metal scene. “Necropolis” is Vader’s 8th studio album and is a fine example of how death metal should be played nowadays. Vader was and still is a legendary band for the European death and with this album they manage to show to everyone that they still “got it”. The leader Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek might have changed the band’s line-up but that proved to be a very wise decision as the new musicians are sounding more than capable and they are giving to the songs the power they need. The guitars are shredding memorable riffs while the bombastic drumming is simply wrecking havoc! This is the ultimate war machine who goes by the name Vader. The album’s duration might be approximately 33 minutes but you can take my word for it, they are more than enough. Every riff is where is supposed to be and the duration is such that makes the album anything but boring. In contrary to most of the modern bands with the 80-minutes lasting fillers that make you push the “stop” on the second track.
\r\nThe compositions themselves are having a more trashy attitude while in some tracks like “When the Sun Drowns in Dark” their classic metal influences are more than obvious. In conclusion “Necropolis” turns out to be an excellent and inspired old school death metal album while the cover tracks on Venom’s “Black metal” and Matallica’s “Fight fire with fire” as digipack bonuses, simply complete a flawless work.
