VIRGIN SNATCH - Act Of Grace

VIRGIN SNATCH - Act Of Grace

I am aware that Poland is a force to reckon when it comes to death metal (If you are already familiar with bands like Vader, you know exactly what I am talking about!) but for Thrash metal? I am afraid things are different. Listening to Virgin Snatch’s fourth album I realized why Poland and Thrash metal, judging from “Act of Grace”, are two irrelevant words.
\r\nIt’s not that the album is mediocre or whatever, it just lacks originality and the element that will make them stand out from the other European Thrash bands and I’m not talking about Germany, God forbid! Musically Virgin Snatch deliver mostly Bay Area Thrash infected with a more modern groovy sound while some death metal elements make their appearance basically on vocals, a combination that reminded me of Testament (on the track “Daniel the Jack” I thought it was Chuck Billy behind the mic!) while other times the singer sounds like Nevermore’s Warrel Dane, something that, for me, is at least deterrent and I can’t understand the reason why someone would do that. Anyway, there are some ass-kicking compositions in here like “M.A.D.” and “Don’t Get Left Behind” with killer riffing and some awesome melodic parts.
\r\nAs a whole “Act of Grace” is not bad but is not something that would grab the attention of the average Thrasher, especially now that the genre is reborn and from time to time there are some really awesome releases, there’s no room for mediocrity. The stronger will survive! That’s what Thrash’s all about!
