Vomitory - Opus Mortis VIII

Vomitory - Opus Mortis VIII

\r\nStubborn to the bone and romantics, Sweds Vomitory come forth once again to add another vomiting stone to the wall of their discography. After so many years of torturing these dudes offer nothing more than pure death metal, the old school way without too much fuzz and kinky stuff. In fact, they do it with so much love that it makes you love them even more, even though what they do is not the most original hammering you’ve ever heard..
\r\n
\r\n..Yet it is so well executed and full of firing fury, the style we were used to, many years back. Having a big label supporting them(thanx MB!) the band hits the spot with a great, strong production so all that’s left to complete the package is the good songwriting. And yes, they do have the skills to compose yet another devastating album under the name "Opus Mortis VIII", a release that is much better that its predecessor in my opinion. The songs feel more complete and grab onto the subconsious much stronger. This is the joy of your average, merciless headbanger, fast songs followed by slower ones(just listen to the amazing "Shrouded IN Darkness") and the Slayer-ish touches painting with blood on the walls. Erik Rundqvist’s gorilla vocals are in good shape and stand proud despite the years of torturing. I think it’s a great deal to be able to hold your throat in good shape, especially when you’re into extreme conditions while singing.

\r\n They say that from there on, it’s only a matter of sales, if the market is going to welcome this new audio murderer. But it matters not to bands like Vomitory in order to continue doing their thing. These fellas are into it for the music, they do what they do for the love of it and pure dedication. Hence, the "romantic" at the start of this text. To sum up, whoever is interested in 10 songs of well played, classic death metal that lacks nothing, but only delivers great riffs and good variety will run to get this cd. One of the bands that will remain on the path for a long time to go, a reminder of how things are done in the field of death metal.\r\n
