Texas In July - One Reality
\r\n Man, I hadn’t listened to a good metalcore album in a long long time. Texas In July didn’t quite fit my ear from the very begining. Fears of emo stuff emerged from within, yes, I hate those band names that sound like abstract phrases. I was prejudiced at first but I always try to keep an open mind. And yes, I was rewarded.

\r\n It’s not that they re-invent the wheel, you will hear breakdowns, you will find the known rhythm section hitting your ears. What they do possess is the ability to write coherent songs with feeling and they are melodic without surpassing the gay boundaries. There are no emo choruses for girls, only Alex Good’s harsh screams and the simplistic yet amazing guitar melodies of lead guitarist Christian Royer. That is exactly what I appreciated in TIJ. Their songs never try too hard to pass on their quality, these dudes avoid the posing and focus on the song writing. Essential and mature. The guitar leads produce this sweet melancholic feeling that I find intriguing, and yeah, if the latest Misery Signals came to your mind you’re in the right direction.

\r\n Of course this, by all means, does not imply the album lacks the energy of aggression. The production is ideal, shinny as it should be and just what it needs to boost the mosh pit fun. The cd’s duration is also ideal. Short but deadly. To sum it up I listened to "One Reality" a lot of times, but only because it made me. Addictive and quality material is being delivered so I think the genre followers but also the ones with an open mind/ear must check these guys out. Give in already!\r\n
