A STORM OF LIGHT - Forgive Us Our Trespasses

A STORM OF LIGHT - Forgive Us Our Trespasses

Surely in the past I have come across bands that were difficult to be categorized to a specific genre therefore difficult to be reviewed. This happens mostly when there’s no distinctive sound in a band’s work so you start wondering if is that genre or the other. Is this doom metal or just something flirting with doom metal? Where should it be categorized? Questions like these are a real pain in the ass! Some might say that it’s all about music and he’d be probably right. The New Yorkers “A Storm Of Light” with their second release are sounding like a balancing act between Doom and Post metal, though a listening to the new album will send all labels and categories plunging into the sea of distress and sorrow that their music creates. I could say that the term Doom metal is most suitable to their music since I encountered many elements of Tiamat and My Dying Bride along with some Pink Floyd touches. The production is very good and gives the songs the atmosphere they need. Here I should mention that the mastermind behind all this music is the ex-“Red Sparowes” guitarist/vocalist Josh Graham. Listening to “Forgive us..” I couldn’t say that there was a song that really captured my attention as I really got carried away when the album started playing.
