Blackmore's Night - Secret Voyage
I m starting to lose the counting of Ritchie’s works with Blackmore’s Night. I can’t remember the amount of the album they have released so far, the only thing I remember is that the first two albums were really something very descent, but now they seem to repeat themselves in a pop / rock ethnic subculture. “Mediocre” is the word that can really describe their releases and some of them lacks of dignity. The reason is simple, Ritchie does not compose anymore, and just re arranges classic Rainbow and Purple songs ready to be butchered by Mrs Candice. In this effort “Secret Voyage” the time has come for the epic anthem “Rainbow Eyes” to be transformed from a great ballad to a pop ballad in the vain of “The Corrs”.
\r\nThe album, sounds like the previous one that sounded like the previous one etc. The Main characteristic of this album is the pop with a little bit of baroque and gypsy music, so once again the same stuff. There is also the same annoying light beat in the background, while Ritchie’s Stratocaster can be heard very seldom, but unfortunately Candice voice can be heard continuously and especially in this one sounds like she doesn’t want to sing, she sounds like she’s dying of boredom behind the mic stand.
\r\nThe few of the good moments of “Secret Voyage” is the instrumental parts and intros / outros , where there is no Candice.
\r\nTwo things are for sure, first one is that love in the age of 50 causes problems and secondly since we are all bored by Blackmore’s Night , (the audience, Candice and Ritchie) why do they keep on release albums.? Who’s fooling who?
