Mooncult - Mooncult

\r\nHere we have a one man’ s Band, which is named Mooncult and it is constituted by Lycaon. Demo is the first effort of Lycaon to be heard also into the chaos that is named Black Metal and more specific, searches to find his route in Greek Black Metal scene, with a Demo that personally I believe that it needs big improvement both in the field of production and compositions. It is 5 tracks (the one is intro), which appear that desperately they search to find their identity and to be heard unique and particular. The truth is that there are certain points, in which it is hidden a paranoia and a suffocating and macabre atmosphere but in general, what finally remains is the mediocrity and the amateurism. What I did not like is the fact that many times during the demo, we hear simple guitars that seem to be taken from some ambient/Black Metal groups, while there are no melodic lines or certain rhythmical points which could draw our attention. From there and beyond they exist certain tracks, that are classified in typical Black Metal genre and in particular carry something from the Greek scene and from bands such as Necromantia, Varathron, Thou Art Lord etc., but even these are not something special. If we remain in the subject of atmosphere, then the things are positive after Lycaon accomplished what we say miserable and black atmosphere. If we go to the subject of tracks, then the things are not also very positive (with only few exceptions) and I would suggest in the gentleman behind Mooncult, to continue doing what he does, but in the next time and with more effort, present us something which would pick our interest as long as we hear it. Good or bad, Black Metal bands nowadays, come into surface with tragically rapid rhythms and for this reason those who make the difference, distinguish…  \r\n
