ANCARA - Beyond the Dark

\r\nAncara is a Finnish band featuring Melodic heavy rock. ‘Beyond the dark’ is their second effort, released via High and Loud, the record label owned by STRATOVARIUS singer Timo Kotipelto and the entire album stinks with classic commercial 80s style hard rock mostly mid-paced, stuffed with big choruses, 80s driving rock riffs, sizzling guitar solos, clean, melodic vocals and a diffuse catchy sound. All songs are chorus driven with hooks and flashy guitar licks, quite well structured and atmospherically dense while the drum lines are simple and frugal and most of the time they deliver only a boned prop on the songs. However, there is a mellow and indolent abundance that steams through the whole album that from one point and afterwards becomes really repetitive and somewhat boring. There is this strong lack of the indispensable power that could really rock you out although there are definitely some sudden eruptions of hopeful potential and certain moments that cast a musical displacement gleaming self-sufficiently through Ancara’s catchy melodic rock.  Overall, this is basic heavy rock sound that some of you may find quite stimulating and entertaining. \r\n
