Arch / Matheos - Sympathetic Resonance
It seems that Progressive Metal is on some kind of creative delirium lately, as there are so many new albums during the last months.
\r\n“Sympathetic Resonance”- a title which can be translated in many ways- is one more album coming from this Prog metal “explosion”. This album release apart from its objective and sentimental value, it ‘s priceless considering the musicians who created it.
\r\nMost likely many people would expect the successor of the album “Awaken The Guardian”. However, time has move on since then and there’s no turning back.
\r\nThere are no “ghosts” from the past, only a nostalgic mood, which comes from Arch’s singing mostly. His voice might be the only element that connects Sympathetic Resonance to the first Fates Warning era, as it hasn’t changed at all and the pass of time hasn’t affected it. There’s a Fates Warning (of the latest years) music environment, which is driven by the genius composing talent of Matheos and, actually, this album might have been the next FW monument, hadn’t the band be on “standby” mode. This adventurous journey through complicated, colorful soundscapes is accompanied by Joey Vera, Frank Aresti and Bobby Jarzombek.
\r\nEnriched sound, variation of emotions and mood, structures that are based on the “recent” Fates Warning albums, endless changes of themes and rhythms, extensive compositions, which haven’t any pointless extensions, though. If the afformentioned elements appeal to you, well you will definitely find everything you ‘ve been looking for in “Sympathetic Resonance”.
