BLADE OF THE REAPER - Taste The Blade

BLADE OF THE REAPER - Taste The Blade

\r\nThis here is the new album from Blade Of The Reaper and is out through Devil Doll Records. Watching the cover artwork with the bloodstained knife and reading track titles like “Submit to Satan”, “Here comes the knife” and “Baphmet’s Call” one can say that this here is a cult evil band following the morbid steps of the early Venom, Possessed and even Bathory of “Under the sign..” days.
\r\nIndeed while I was listening to the album I was actually thinking of all these bands. The sound, the feeling, it all reminded me of the old days. Even the production sounds “old-school” but without having that “from the vault” kind of sound.
\r\nMusically as you might have realized by now, Blade Of The Reaper like to play a kind of primitive Thrash ‘n’ roll with some honestly very good ideas on the guitar parts and the compositions themselves. Vocals have that evil attitude of times past while the gang backing vocals come to fill the whole satanic feeling.
\r\nI know that talking about Satan and butchered maidens upon altars in 2009 might sound a bit odd, old fashioned or even funny for some (but who says that heavy metal doesn’t love exaggerating?). So if some of you out there like or feel a bit nostalgic about these restless days then you should check out “Taste the blade”
