Blitzkrieg - Theatre Of The Damned

Blitzkrieg - Theatre Of The Damned

\r\nI think most of the people found out about this band, the less famous from all the old NWOBHM bands from United Kingdom, when Metallica covered their title song ’Blitzkrieg’, featured on the B side of ’Creeping Death’ single. Founded back in 1980 and after several splits and reunions, the band managed since 2001 to regularly releasing albums again under the firm guidance of its vocalist Brian Ross. The album ’Theatre Of The Damned’ recorded in Absurd Studios in Hamburg and was co-produced by Schroedey and SAXON frontman Biff Byford. The music is nothing more than strong and aggressive Heavy Metal with the classical vibe of the authentic NWOBHM, very melodic at times while the tracks are keeping mostly a mid tempo rhythm except some random varieties which is and the only drawback I found in this album. Hearing the new versions of the old classics ‘Armageddon’ and ‘Blitzkrieg’, which are featured as bonus tracks in this release, could only but emphasize the fact that Blitzkrieg used to play faster and with a lot more fury in the past. The production from the other hand has a very pure ‘80s impulse although at moments comes out with a slight weakness. Anyway, generally ’Theatre Of The Damned’ is a very interesting release from a band that never really got the attention it deserved.\r\n
