CATΑΜΕΝΙA is a very productive band, no doubt; during the twelve years of their career – fifteen years, if we take into account their demo too- they release a new album every two years maximum.
\r\nSo, if you expected them to make a difference this time, you will be disappointed. They are extreme, and at the same time very melodic, catchy on some parts, with pretty powerful guitars and solos full of nice melodies as well. Remarkable spots that are pretty influenced by the In Flames “patterns”. Objectively they are not that “extreme”, but, on the other hand, that’s CATAMENIA, plain and simple. The structure of the songs is a bit contradictive; I mean you can’t play black metal and power metal at the same time, can you. Unless if you play “blackened power” metal. What an odd term! Well, the thing is to enjoy what you are doing and the music that you are creating, so..
\r\nThe songs didn’t appeal to me at first, but then I changed my mind. It’s pretty much a “predictable” release for the band, however there are many good ideas in here and that’s the point afterall.
\r\nThe last song is a cover for Megadeth ’s “Angry Again”, which was the best choice possible in my opinion.
