Hysterica - Metal War

Hysterica - Metal War

\r\nA must have for the classic-school metalheads from Hysterica, a female band which counts only 4 years of existence. In 2005 they did their first demo and later on “Metalwar” followed up with Peter Tägtgren on the production, known from his previous work with Hypocrisy and Pain. Briefly, we have a power metal album with female vocals and generally full female line-up, which is based on the style that the older ladies of the scene have taught, and which is away from the current ethereal performances and looks. Here there’s only aggressive and intense vocals and attitude, which is completely different from the last years tension. The song titles give a clear idea about the album, like for instance “Girls made of heavy metal“, “Heavy metal man” and of course the self-titled one, “Metalwar”.
\r\nTheir singer, even though she is only 19 years old, is perhaps the most important promotional spot, as their playing is a bit cliché. On the other hand, that’s not necessary a bad thing, as the music style that they present is clear. Heavy Power, with classical Judas Priest-like riffs and Manowar-like feeling, while Anni De Vil’s passionate performance contributes to a very pleasant result. They reminded me a lot of Benedictum actually, perhaps due to the vocals mostly. Anyway, the old school, classic school and power metal-heads should have no reason to not add “Metalwar” in their collection.\r\n
