PROPHECY - Legions Of Violence
PROPHECY - Legions Of Violence
\r\nProphecy are of the bands that keep the flag of Bay Area Thrash high honoring their legacy like true California Thrashers do….But….wait a minute…what’s this here…. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil? No kiddin’ these guys here are more Bay Area than the Original Bay Area thrashers out there.
\r\nEven though they are in the scene for almost 20 years “Legions of violence” is their debut album. Having recorded 2 demos (Dusty inheritance in 1991 and Technics of violence in 2001) during all these years, one can think that we’re not talking about a bunch of kids who copy their influences, as they started thrashing back in the glorious days of late 80’s along with the “Old Guard”, but for a band of experienced and professional musicians who love thrashing the old ways.
\r\nProphecy’s compositions are exactly what we call Classic Bay Area-in your face-Thrash!! With obvious influences from the elite of the genre (we’re talking about bands like Testament, Exodus, Forbidden, Metallica and such) they present a splendid album of pure total thrash! All the elements that can characterize an album as such are here. Killer riffs leading you straight to the moshpit, intriguing melodies, wild solos and the cult shouting gang backing vocals as well.
\r\nRogerio Avlis’s voice reminds me that of Testament’s Chuck Billy, while in the more melodic parts he sounds like Forbidden’s Russ Anderson.
\r\nTheir tunes are pretty much inspired and given the fact they come from Brazil, they’re Bay-area-thrashing better than the local bands (including some of the Old Guard). The production is awesome and the cult album cover completes the whole thing.
\r\nI truly believe that “Legions of violence” is a worth purchasing record that honors the genre and its origins and I am pretty sure that if this album had come out 20 years ago it would have been among the top of the classics.
\r\nBuying it is not optional….is necessary!!\r\n
