Witchfield - Sleepless
Witchfield - Sleepless
As I have said many time before, when it comes about a release from Italy something “awakes” inside me, and especially when is about an Italian release that features this unique doom sound, that only Italy can provides us, with many keyboards and unique atmosphere.
\r\nIn this specific review is all about Witchfield whose line up consists of Thomas Hand Chaste, ex drummer of the first legendary Death ss line up and later drummer of Paul Chain Violate Theater and Steve Sylvester. On the bass guitar we have Mr. Baka Bomb that he had also work with Paul Chain, on guitar and vocals we meet the Cardellino brothers, well known from their band L Impero Delle Ombre as well as Homo Herectus. We also have Ilario Supressa on guitars also.
\r\nAs I previously said the sound of Witchfield it’s a classic Italian doom metal holocaust with the Italian atmosphere like bands as Black Hole, Paul Chain Violater Theater, L Impero Delle Ombre and more. There are many keys played by THC and some guest musicians like mr Clive Jones of the Legendary Uk prog outfit Black Widow, that he appears on two tracks with his flute, one of these tracks is the cover song to Death SS’ classic “Inquisitor”, but the version that appears on “Evil Metal” E.P., where THC was still the drummer of the band. Another Guest is Steve Sylvester from Death SS that sings on the Alice Cooper Cover “Black Widow”, that Paul Chain Violate Thater use to cove on stage on their early shows.
\r\nThe Vocals of John are in the same, paranoic tone as we know from his band’s works, while the guitar parts are down tempo with slow riffing and of course some Wah pedal effects. Baka Bomb with his bass playing adds his personal signature on the album and the keyboards played by THC give a different dimension to the whole release.
\r\nIf anyone out there is a fan of Italian Doom Metal must get this album … NOW~
