Dead man's rose - S/t

\r\nI don’t know why but to my mind, the name “Dead Man’s Rose” is associated with some old spaghetti western films and for that reason I was prepared to listen to a band related to the music of Fields of the Nephilim ( if you take a look at the extraordinary image of Carl Mc Coy you’ll know what I mean). Anyway things turned out to be completely different.
\r\nDead Man’s Rose are playing modern Hard Rock honoring their Guns ‘n’ Roses influences while they are shaping their own personal style. If we take into consideration the fact that they have personally managed the funding and the production of the album, then what we have here is a very decent and professional work. The compositions are what we would call pure Hard Rock flirting with some modern elements especially on the guitars where the sound is really heavy. Some melodies and heavy riffing appear here an there as well while in some songs they are having some Flamenco parts something that shows a band open to experimentations. The vocals reminded me these of Andy Deris in some parts while in some other songs the singing had a more Axl Rose touch.
\r\nIn the CD there is a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Give In To Me” (a famous song and a favorite to many of us) in two versions. The “King of Pop” might not be here with us anymore but he left us with a great legacy. Dead man’s Rose approch the song in a more Hard Rock way. \r\n
