STONE SOUR - Audio Secrecy

\r\nAfter their recent live show in Greece, during Sonisphere festival, where they played some new songs, I was pretty interested in listening to the new Stone Sour album. Things are still unclear regarding the future of Slipknot; their drummer stated a couple of weeks ago that they will move on in the near future, but their frontman didn’t confirm it, in the contrary, he believes it’ s too early to talk about such stuff and he doesn’t seem so positive about this option, as he considers the band as a family and Paul Gray’s sudden death has affected all of them, not only in the composing field, but mostly emotionally.
\r\nRelating the two bands in unavoidable due to their members in common, plus, anyone familiar with Stone Sour kinda expects to listen something in the vain of Slipknot. Audio Secrecy has such parts, alright; however the bottom line is that it sounds 100% as Stone Sour. Any comparison wouldn’t do it justice, as they have their own music style after 3 albums, plus, it seems that their name will be discussed a lot in the future to come.
\r\nStraight from the centre of the modern American metal scene, with post grunge attitude, based on their alternative music perspective and some mainstream mood, which somehow can be a reason for someone to be skeptical (I’m talking about the song “Say you ‘ll haunt me”, mainly, where Corey ‘s screaming as he sings love lyrics is the higlight, and, also, about the ballads of the album, that make you feel as if you are having a cold shower after all these so intense songs, especially if you pay attention to the lyrics and go back to the time when you were listening to the song “Snuff” , remembering how many hours you spent staring at the walls around you, even after the song was over), really stunning riffs, that can make any great guitarist reconsider about his so unique skills and astonishing songs that leave no doubt about this band being one of the best coming from this scene. The most important thing is they confirm this the whole time.
\r\nIf you still haven’t listen to Audio Secrecy, I would recommend you avoided doing it while everyone else rests or sleeps for the obvious reason.  \r\n
