Terrordrome/Oath To Vanquish - Begetters Of Fear And Ruin

Terrordrome/Oath To Vanquish - Begetters Of Fear And Ruin

\r\nSecong strike from Salonika’s Terrordrome comes in the form of a split cd and, in my opinion, it establishes them as on of the top forward thinking brutal tech/death metal bands(that was long!). It takes enormous amount of talent to be able to compose songs that are technical and catchy at the same time. Yes, catchy.
\r\n
\r\n In case you had never heard of Terrordrome before, we’re talking about extremely fast brutal death , with lots of technical stuff, that got an upgrade. In contrast to bands like Braindrill and Viraemia, Terrordrome have the privilige of actual songwriting. I could never mention those bands as an influence since the greeks have a personal sound and style, but also they draw the golden line between brutality. technical skills, and composition. Goerge Brigos’ production einai crystal clear, crisp, flawless and manages to turn the listening process into a utopic experience!

\r\n Musically, the band shows progress by adding flamenco elements(!) and a progressive touch which is something we don’t see in Oath To Vanquish. Not that it’s necessary. What we do get here is death metal with fury, speed and extremity with a sound somewhat more poor than the one of Terrordrome. Not crappy, just less impressive in comparison.

\r\n OTV are from Lebanon, which surprises me as I was unaware of a local scene. Their material is very good, with a strange scent of mysticism amongst the aural attack. The vocalist handles his throat quite good and the rest of the band follow superbly delivering a pequliar kind of death metal. But I’m gonna need a full length for a more aqurate opinion and that is something I will wait for.
\r\n
\r\n To sum up, this split is a very good way to get to know these two bands. Very beautifuly wrapped up in awesome artwork and at a good price! Make sure you look it up asap as it is hand numbered in 100 copies. Amen!\r\n
