SEVERE TORTURE - Seth

\r\n - Hey Seth, welcome to metalzone.gr. How have things been for the band this year?
\r\n
\r\nWe had a very exciting year this year. We were able to do some great festivals. Some we played before like Mountains of Death in Switserland and for some it was the first time, like Hellfest in France. We are just back from the UK after doing 4 gigs with Cerebral Bore, and are already booking more stuff for next year.
\r\n
\r\n- It’s been almost a year since the release of "Slaughtered". What was the responce back then and how do you feel about it now that it’s more settled within you? Do you feel it’s a solid Severe Torture release?
\r\n
\r\nAfter a record is recorde I usually listen to it for a week or 2 and then I’m done with it. I’m still happy with the way it turned out but my mind is already with new stuff and new sick ideas. There’s definitely a few tracks on slaughtered that I enjoy a lot playing live.
\r\n
\r\n- Have you guys been writing any new material? Is there any kind of pressure from the label?

\r\n
\r\nWe just started writing the first riffs, so it’s really nothing yet. There’s no labelpressure, but we don’t like to wait for 5 years, haha..\r\n

\r\n

\r\n \r\n

\r\n

\r\n- What is the process you usually follow when composing a new album? When should we expect new material from the  S.T. camp?
\r\n
\r\nOur goal is to release something new in 2012. It all depends on how good things are coming together. We usually don’t record before we are really satisfied with all the songs.
\r\n
\r\n- Will there be any change of musical directions? Your latest releases show progress though you guys are deeply rooted into the brutal death metal spectrum.
\r\n
\r\nI don’t know what the new record is gonna be like. All I know is that it’s geting harder and harder not to copy the last album. But I don’t expect any drastic changes, it will be very very brutal!!
\r\n
\r\n- Gigs. You guys are planning on doing some show in the UK. Are there any other plans for a tour or next year’s festivals?
\r\n
\r\nWe are working on some very cool gigs, but I can’t say anything about it yet, sorry...\r\n

\r\n

\r\n \r\n

\r\n

\r\n- How do you see the death metal scene these days? Lots of bands pop up from everywhere. Overpopulation or are there any bands worth checking out?
\r\n
\r\nI don’t believe in overpopulation, cause it shows that there’s many people interested in creating brutal shit. There’s definitely good bands out there, but a lot of them lack creativity and something original. If bands would work more on creating a sound of their own, it would be more like the early 90’s.
\r\n
\r\n- Now, a "tougher" one: what’s your opinion on the new Morbid Angel album? What do you think about this type of "evolution" from extreme bands?

\r\n
\r\nThat’s not a tough one for me, I LOVE the new Morbid Angel record. First of all it is still a matter of taste, but what I like most about it, is how catchy it is. The vocal patterns, the way Vincent pronounces and sings with authority is something that inspires me a lot. Morbid Angel has always done different things on every album and I think this is one of their better ones.
\r\n
\r\n- Lyrically, I noticed a "return to the roots" thing on the latest album. What is your opinion on the classic gore themes? Where do you guys draw inspiration from?
\r\n
\r\nMy lyrics have always been antireligious and gore. It’s basically about butchering christians, fucking nuns up their asses and laughing at the bible. Irritation is my inspiration.\r\n

\r\n

\r\n \r\n

\r\n

\r\n- Musical inspirations? Would you call yourselves fans of music in general? What type of music would pass through your filters in order to be called an inspiration?
\r\n
\r\nFor me personally it’s a deathmetal marathon through life. Every band with the right energy and sound can inspire me in some way.  The rest of the guys listen to all kinds of music.
\r\n
\r\n- Alright, that’s it from us. We want to thank you for your time, we hope we’ll see you in Greece soon again. And as always: last words are yours..
\r\n
\r\nThanx for this intee and good luck with the zine!  I hope we can be back in Greece as soon as possible, we had a killer time there! Cheers!!!\r\n
