HEAVEN SHALL BURN @ AN Club
How can anyone begin describing a live performance with Heaven shall burn as headliners,Maroon as the second act and a promising band from Belgium Rafflesia.Rafflesia although they are new in the metalcore scene and only two years in action they have accimplished to share th scene with many big names of the hardcore scene as: Arkangel, Heaven Shall Burn, Maroon, Deadlock, Blood Redemption, Caliban, Naera. \r\n
\r\nThe doors opened at 20:00 as it was written on the poster(something weird for a concert event in greece). First in the scene came out Decayed Truth, reallyyoung age-related.Their singer with the nickname kiRa and the emo haircut,gave me a sense of disbilief initially, but after a few minutes the made me to change entirely my first judgement as it was 20.30.The band was full of energy ,they made a massive start for the night and left us with promises for the future!15 minutes lasted their dream on stage in this big night. \r\n

\r\nThen in the scene came out The Vondera Cult(ex-studiowaste) well known in the Athenian audience.What can we say about Vondera cult?They are an example for every band that is inspired from bands like Botch,Converge and Norma Jean.Their stage performance was magnificent ! The contact with the crowd is the basic component of band in order to play!Their songs remind us Norma Jean,that’s something that many people don’t like.(The influences should not annoy anyone…and Norma Jean are inspired by other bands like Botch).They played for 25 minutes enough ti make the crowd go wild! \r\n

\r\n\r\n \r\nNext on stage was Eden Demise(ex-Providence).A true hardcore band.Groovy,very strong and confident on stage.The athenian hardcore audience seems to be loyal to them.ATHENS HARDCORE! \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\nThe first foreign band for the night was Rafflesia that came out about 22:10.I had heard many things about these Belgian guys and I was looking forward to watch them on stage.The rumours about a modern hardcore band with massive perfomances came true.Bart(very pleasant figure) the singer of the band entertained the audience and ask from the them to make the well known wall of death and they couldn’t deny. \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\nEverybody was waiting for Maroon a band that’s very well known in the central europe for the live performances.They hit the stage at 23:00 and they stayed for 45 minutes spreading everywhere notes of technical hardcore.The guitar riffs in many songs remind something from the swedish scene ,that’s the reason that makes them more melodic from a regular hardcore band. \r\n \r\n

\r\nThe time has come,it’s 00:00 lights out everywhere,the intro of Iconoclast starts,Heaven Shall Burn are on stage!In the beginning I couldn’t recognize the guy with the black shirt until he reaches the microphone and the earthquake begins…!!!It was Marcus,great voice power.A demonstration of force and riff virtuosity for the germans that showed once again their quality in the AN club. \r\n

\r\n \r\n \r\nAlways melodic like the last albums they continue with the same recipe in the Iconoclast they showed that they love their guitars and showed it to us with great success.Except the presentation of the Iconoclast album they played songs like:The Weapon They Fear, Voice Of Voiceless and Counterweight that made us happy! \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\nNobody wants to leave!550 people.Tickets sold out!that’s not a surprise and if the festival was \r\n \r\n \r\nWell- promoted more people could have arrived and in a bigger club like Gagarin.the crowd seems to be very energetic although time is 1:30. 5hours non-stoping hardcore, \r\n \r\n \r\nAn club was full,the ticket price logical :22 euro.A very good festival that we won’t forget for a long time. \r\n \r\nReport / Φωτογραφίες Δημήτρης Χατζημωυσής \r\n \r\nTranslation:Grigoris Konstantaras \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n
