Requiem - Within Darkened Disorder

Requiem - Within Darkened Disorder

\r\n Requiem have been killing humans with their music for the last 10 years using the like father like son way(oldschool!). But unlike kick ass bands like Vomitory who indulge themselves in the same sport, they do not touch the level of the beloved Swedes. This is their fifth full length album(an EP has been released too) and it finds them dwelling on the same floors, more or less. This stagnation is not all that bad to be honest since the band is indeed a dissent act with balls of concrete.

\r\n They seem to have what it takes, capable musicians, a good production, even an amazing cover(Dan Seagrave!). But fromt that point on the questions start falling. Yes, you’ve heard it before. Again and again and even though you can say it for other bands too, Requiem stand guilty of not providing that extra special thing that will nail them to the back of our heads. Or at least my head. There are plenty of bands out there that can actually pierce your taste and get stucj in there a lot easier. And while the blasbeats and the fury makes you horny at first it all comes into a blury end. The truth is, I listened to "Within Darkened Disorder" countless times in order to come to a final conclusion within me. Not that it’s a difficult album but I was looking for something to hold on to...but in vein.

\r\n This is such a bizzare case and a classic one at the same time. You know exactly what it is you’re listening to but you cannot remember it after a while. It can’t stand out of the crowd. Just to mention some of the influences, I’d say the american scene having sex with the european parts(not the melo swedish one mind you!) meaning acts like God Dethroned and Sinister. Unfortunately, my mind has already rejected the album though. Destined to roam in oblivion, doomed not for its bad scent but because it failed to bring spring when it had all the needed features to do so.\r\n
