Wretched - Beyond The Gate

Wretched - Beyond The Gate

If you are into melodic death metal, like the good old In Flames or Dark Tranquility but with a more modern approach on the sound along with some Lamb Of God-like breaks, then Wretched is exactly what you’re looking for. Modern technical Death Metal. Nothing less, nothing more.
\r\nThe compositions of the band’s second album (they released their debut “The Exodus Of Autonomy” in 2009) are once more unbelievably good. There’s no doubt that “Beyond The Gates” is an album composed by musicians for musicians. What do I mean? I’ll be straight.
\r\n“Beyond The Gates” is flawless in every aspect. The production is awesome and so is the band’s composing and performing abilities. Music wise they sound like the above mentioned bands in most of the songs while there are some parts that the thunderous rhythm section along with the brutal vocals resulting in a more Black Metal sound. Riffs are mind-blowing-ly powerful  while I had the chance to listen to some of the most impressive solos ever. Despite all these great features, there’s not one song stuck in my mind. Even after a few more times listening to the album no song managed to impress me or even catch my attention.
\r\nI don’t know if that’s a benefit or a drawback for someone who wants to get the album, I just stick to my belief that Metal is a music genre that HAS TO have some influence in you, either positive or negative, so when an album despite its unquestionable quality doesn’t manage to do so….well something’s not right.
