The Bridal Procession - Astronomical Dimensions

\r\nSiege of Amida label has drawn some attention due to its roster of modern death metal bands that show significant interest. After Job For A Cowboy’s debut a few years ago there have been quite a few acts playing alike creating another "mass" of a new genre. Surely a usual phenomena but utterly, the top of the cream is what remains.

\r\n Having dealt with strong acts like The Red Shore and Trigger The Bloodshed in the past but also with less known like And Hell Followed Within I come to the conclusion that this here bunch of young musicians shares the same love for the etreme but with a big difference in the result. And while facts remain common(awesome tech skills, complicated patterns, shinny production, etc) The Bridal Procession have the advantage of good perception when it comes to actual song writing. They do not confuse, there is a certain vision and it is followed thoroughly. Modern death metal that will appeal to kid wearing the Whitechapel t-shirt but will also impress the oldschool fella that digs Behemoth and Morbid Angel(listen to Atypical Pestilence).

\r\n The addition of keyboards(mostly underlaying) gives a fresh air of interest to the album and does not let down one bit. They create a mystical atmosphere and apply identity to it. The dude’s voice is supreme, it seems that the younger vocalists have spent hours "studying" death metal with their ipods..Tracks that stand out are the mentioned above(Atypical..) and the opening Flesh To Flesh among others. Strength, brutality and atmosphere(in the morbid sense) without too much flattering. Astronomical Dimensions(instrumental) in the middle of the album is a track that shows the band’s ability to write music that speaks for itself.

\r\n I suggest that people with a love for extreme music-but not narrow minded "mid 90s only"- should give this a try. A high quality release that will, hopefully, have an equally good follow up.\r\n
