Pensées Nocturnes - Grotesque

\r\nShock and awe! There is no other way to describe what I felt during the first listening session of Pensées Nocturnes’s second album. Without any previous experience of their/his music, I find myself face to face with one the most atmospheric examples of art one can witness..

\r\n Vaerohn is responisble for all instruments, orchestrations and vocals. Avant Gard in its majesty. Neoclassical, black metal, full on theatricity, horror, surrealism, dream. I have before me the bewildering task of describing this creation with words so I will make a humble attempt to give you an image of "Grotesque". Those of you that love experimental music and have an overview of bands like Arcturus and such know that there is nothing in particular to expect. And that is exactly what is magic about it. Not knowing what’s coming next. Not being aware of what lies behind the next corner. And this is where the dearest french succeed(s), surprising us differently after each minute. The album’s extreme parts are really obscure and sick but they do not cover it entirely, thus givig space for all sorts of experimenting. You will even hear cuckoo clock sounds fitting in perfectly!

\r\n I feel I’m getting even more addicted to this horror, this anxiety each time I listen to this cd. Dressed in amazing artwork, equally peculiar to the music contained, this release manages to display its essense perfectly. A complete package, a work in its full. The fact that all the lyrics are written in french should not be concidered an disadvantage, there is meaning in here. I will not write anyhting else, it is not fair. I’ll let the music speak for itself.\r\n
