Nightfall - Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants

\r\nIt’s been five years since their last album release and despite the rumors about a new album, NIGHTFALL hadn’t release anything until now.
\r\nSo, this is the band’s come back with a new piece of work, a new line up and, why not, a new perspective; Efthimis Karadimas on vocals, Evan Hensley on guitars, Stathis Kassios on keyboards and Jorg Uken on drums.  “Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants” is a raw and devastating Death/Black Metal album, with many Majestic Black Metal elements, that create a really imposing and cold atmosphere, nice melodic Death Metal elements that enrich the compositions, as well as some dark doom passages, while the tempo changes all the time during the songs.
\r\nThose who appeal to the Dark/Goth side of the band (which can be found only on some spots in this album) or loved them after listening the hits “Lesbian Show” and “Diva”, will now see the other side of them, which is more or less already familiar to the fans of the first albums. “Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants” is absolutely aggressive and violent. You can barely listen to the keyboard parts, mainly on the pompous spots; on the other hand, all the other instruments are in the forefront of the production.
\r\nThe music direction and the concept of the lyrics, which is inspired by the precious history of Ancient Hellas, is very close to the latest albums of ROTTING CHRIST. It’s unavoidable to not relate them. If the background was different, if these albums hadn’t been recently release, most probably “Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants” would be estimated from a different point of view and, maybe, it would pleasantly surprise us. \r\n
