Candlemass - Death Magic Doom

Candlemass - Death Magic Doom

Well, a brand new full length for Candlemass and I can see the huge smiles on the faces of all doom-dogs out there and not only them. When I’ve first been informed that Candlemass were composing new material, I thought that it will be more like a continuing to their previous album “King of the Grey Islands”. An album that I consider as one of the band’s best releases. But Leif has set his mind into something completely different, the revival of old Candlemass sound and he did it once again with the best possible way!!! With tracks such as “Bleeding Baroness”, “Hammer Of Doom”, “My Funeral Dreams” etc, Candlemass dive deep, into the doom-iest side of Leif’s mind after the very first releases (till Messiah’s first departure).
\r\nSlow , down tempo riffing, the unique lyricism of Lowe, the astonishing guitar work by “Mappe” and “Lasse” along with the thickness of Leif’s sound create the new monumental release of Candlemass in the year 2009. But for once again we will hear from some guys the same old comments like “ Oh Messiah isn’t singing on that one” or “Imagine this album if Messiah was still with the band” etc. For the last time I ll say that if someone likes so much Messiah’s voice , then he can buy his recent works, but you can’t ignore one of the best metal voices ever, Mr Lowe that most of you learned about his existence only some years ago when he joined Candlemass. Messiah left, get over it! When Iam listening to mega riffs like “House Of 1.000 Voices” I wont try to imagine Marcolin’s vocals on that.
\r\nPersonally I will raise my hands to the Air, and I will pay a tribute to one of the few bands of Doom Metal scene that managed one of the most difficult tasks ever. To became widely acceptable amongst the non – doom metal fans and to be still here to spread the purity of doom metal to the ignorant.
