Machinae Supremacy - Overworld

\r\nI used the term “alternative” above because these dudes have confused me. New album out for the Swedish band which has become popular due to the free downloading option that they gave to the people who might be interested in checking their music out, rather than their music itself. About the previously mentioned term. Machinae Supremacy is playing SID metal, as it is called, due to the fact that there are plenty of electronic elements/sounds, video games-like and computer games-like, back from the 80s & 90s. While on one hand there are power metal elements and it seems that the album has a straight metal “feeling”, on the other hand they add these samples, their style turns to more Rock-like rather than metal, and this results in a  following a modern orientation. The compositions are not bad, yet I‘m not really attracted in this combination of experimental elements. The vocals fit perfectly and the production is pretty good as well. And let’s not forget to mention the cover song for “Gimme more” from Britney Spears which is included in this album, and I’d like to avoid commenting on. I think that their musical approach is interesting in general, however these awkward elements is a minus for me. \r\n
