MARAUDER - Face The Mirror

MARAUDER - Face The Mirror

Eleven years have passed since the first album by the Athens based outfit Marauder, entitled “Sense Of Metal”. This years , one of the most important heavy / power groups of Greece, returned with their fourth effort, “Face The Mirror”. The first difference that someone realizes is the vocals, since Alexandros Kostarakos replace Marauder’s previous vocalist. Another line up change took place and Thodoris Paralis is now the new Bass player of the band.
\r\nAbout the music now, Marauder keeps on playing this Heavy Power metal music, for about ten years now, with many good melodic lines, and very good guitar parts, especially the solos and the twin guitars leads.
\r\nIn these twelve tracks that the album features, the Athenians unfold their composing abilities and ideas (which are very good)  and provide us with a very good heavy / power experience with many shard edged “In Your Face” riffing, as for the vocals, sound loud, and in specific parts high pitched. There are also many parts in the album that backing vocals exist and not only on chorus lines.
\r\nThe only negative point I found is the mediocre production and especially on the vocal lines. But the album in general can easily be compared with other efforts and not apparently native. I think that is the right time for all of us to stop judging the Hellenic efforts by the country of origin, the Greek efforts are not inferior to the non greek releases.
